This website was originally meant to contain the daily blogs from our ten-day road trip around Arizona and California. As it turned out, we did so much during each day that there simply wasn't the time to write a blog on that frequent a basis. 

I returned to the UK and wrote the contents of this website from the notes I made. Some has also been trusted to memory which causes me concern, as it should do you, but Adam has obligingly reviewed the content and corrected anything that reflects badly on him first, factual inaccuracies second and lastly, any of my humorous musings that he considers do not work.

Some Background

This road trip came about because Adam is continuing his education, after three years on a film and American studies degree course at the University of Essex, as an exchange student at the University of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff. We decided to turn up in Arizona a little earlier to explore, meet the locals and take in the views (in every sense); something like in the spirit of Hunter S. Thompson's 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas' but without all the drugs - although I noticed there were some paracetamol in our first aid kit.

I am happy to confess that this diary has been as much fun to recall and write as the road trip was to be on, so I hope that comes through above all. 

I also freely own up to the fact that all the research for our itinerary, apart from the odd spur of the moment (and intended) deviation, was down to Adam for which I am very grateful: The mix of beautiful natural scenery, quirky man-made creations and fascinating historical sites, plus of course having Adam along with me, made it the incredible road trip it became.
